Cat Got Your Tongue?

Digest the following.

This information is EXCLUSIVE to The Grip Doctrine:

Santa Monica High School is a 33 Acre Campus, in the 90405 Zip Code. [33 Acres = 1,437,480 Sqaure feet]

According to the Los Angeles Times, 1 square foot of land, in the 90405 Zip Code, is valued at $737.

If you crunch the numbers above, you come out with the following:

Santa Monica High School's campus is worth $1.059 Billion. [$1,059,422,760.00 to be exact]

If the SAMO campus was sold, and was relocated 10 Blocks from where it stands now, to the 90404 Zip Code (around Memorial Park, in the middle of Santa Monica), the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District would make an estimated $61.9 Million dollar profit. [$61,936,360.00 to be exact]

Think about how much $61.9 Million would improve our school, our education, and the lives of those living in Santa Monica.

Crunching the numbers for you,

The Grip Doctrine.

It kind of looks like you didnt factor in any of the money it takes to bulldoze and rebuild a 33 acre school, or the time it takes to do so. But thats just me.

w.e it is, it isnt $62 million.

not to mention..

the school is still worth 1.09 billion dollars

Why the fuck would we move our school?

Anonymous said...

Dana,

This article isn't advocating a move of our schools location,

it is enlightening you on the value of our school, and showing you how much our location affects that by contrasting it with a location only 10 blocks away.

And even if we were serious, don't you think $62 Million would be a big enough reason to move our school?

That aside,

That wasn't the point of the article.

but i promise you didnt know our school was worth $1.09 Billion

Interesting.

Actually, doesn't the value of property decrease when there is a school closeby?

So unfortunately, that wouldn't help those around Samohi.

But very interesting.

someone send this to tipper.. thats insane.

Sorry, I just read this wrong. I thought you were suggesting a move, not just putting out information.

My bad.

No worries.

damn, you could do so much with $62 million... 10 blocks isn't that far, and the new location would probably be in closer proximity to the homes of SAMO students... w.e though. campus is amazing,,,, $1.09 Billion amazing

Sort of makes you appreciate our school's location more...

When Santa Monica High School's 33 acres were bought, I'm quite sure land in 90405 cost a lot less than it does now.

you never know, real estate in santa monica is getting less expensive.

some one do an article on what you can buy with $1.059 Billion and/or $62 Million

Recently at the Junior Classical League convention I was lucky enough to attend I over heard some (freshman) complaining how jealous they were of the much swankier Menlo Park School. 1 billion dollars. wheww! Stupid Freshman.

What about the implication of finding room in the city for a 33 acre school?

Anonymous said...

Guys, it's not supposed to be literal. It's an idea of how much our property costs...

Just suggesting some of the implications if we hypothetically moved the school...
