The Bottom Line

Why does our generation place so much emphasis on getting accepted into a name-brand University?

I'm not here to complain about "The System". It is what it is.

But why do we choose to eat, breath, and shit, the numbers and depth on our college transcript?

I am flabbergasted. Yes, flabbergasted. Look it up you SAT whores.

Here's the deal... we are misled.

Chances are, if you are dedicated to pursuing undergraduate prestige, you have ambitions of attending Law School, Business School, Medical School, and so on.

So if you want to bust your balls in high school, go for it, but you must realize that your LSAT, MCAT and GMAT scores (SAT equivalents for Law, Medical, and Business School) largely determine the excellence and strength, of the Graduate School you attend.

This is important because, it is your Graduate Education, not the school in which you attended undgrad, determines your initial success in your profession.

So if you end up going to Cal State LA, it's not the end of world. Get good grades while your there, and conquer your LSAT's, and Harvard Law School is anything but a long shot.

And lets not forget, if you get into a good graduate school, you will have every major firm in your industry hunting you down to work for them.

Bottom line. We worry to much.

By no means am I advocating sub-par effort in high school, all I am saying is you shouldn't put too much emphasis on your academics. You are young, enjoy it.

If you buckle down, focus, and persevere when it is necessary, you will be successful in life, no matter what people try and scare you into thinking.
